Disease Lacebugs
Host Plants Azalea, Andromeda, Rhododendran, and other ornamental trees and shrubs
Description The insect is a small clear winged pest found on the underside of leaves.  Injury is displayed as yellow stippling on the upper surface of leaves.  Several generations per year are possible which causes high populations of pests as summer progresses.
Life Cycle This pest is common to Japanese Andromeda and injury can be quite severe especially when this host grows in full sun.  This insect over-winters as an egg imbedded within the leaf tissue.  Hatching generally occurs in early June.  There are 3-4 generations per year and activity is from late-May into September.  Feeding injury is displayed on the upper leaf surface as severe yellow stippling.
