Is Keil Tree Experts licensed and/or insured?

We are licensed by the State of Maryland and we are insured for your protection.  We carry ten times the minimum required by law.  (The state minimum is $100,000).  A copy of the license and/or a certificate of insurance is available upon request.

Is my tree too big?

A healthy tree is never too big.  Some trimming may be required to clear obstacles such as houses, lights or utility lines, but size reduction of trees is rarely beneficial.

When do I pay for the work that was done?

Payment is expected at the completion of all work.  The customer can give a check to the crew or call the office with credit card information.  If no one is home, we will mail an invoice to you.

My tree looks "sick."  Can you identify the problem?

We have a licensed arborist on staff able to identify problems and recommend proper treatment.

How do you remove stumps, and can you remove the roots?

We use a machine about the size of a lawn tractor to grind the stump.  We can grind it deep enough to plant grass or deep enough to replant.  We can also grind roots on the surface of the ground that are visible.  Underground roots shall remain.

Why/when is a permit required?

A permit is required to perform work on county trees (normally found in curb strips).  We would obtain the proper permit in order to perform the work.  However, there is a $25 permit fee we must pass on to the customer.  This will be documented on the estimate, as well as the bill, if applicable.

Do you Plant?

Yes.

Do you transplant trees or shrubs?

We can transplant trees or shrubs that are smaller and don't have a well established root system.

How much lawn damage can I expect?

We try to leave as little lawn damage as possible.  Depending on conditions, there could be none, or there could be substantial damage.  For example, if your lawn is soft, our trucks may leave ruts.  Falling debris could leave dents or holes.  However, we will be more than happy to fix any damage for a fair, additional charge.  If you feel your lawn is too wet for us to work, please do not hesitate to reschedule.
